The Amerindian well is the oldest on Carriacou.
We are still looking for a good picture of this well.
Please contact our web administrator if you have a good pic or more info.
This watersource is in Harveyvale, close to the shore of Tyrell Bay.
When the Arawak amerindians were inhabitants of Carriacou this was their main source of water.
Later other wells were dug and the deep holes got inforced with stones against collapsing.
Water supply has always been a major difficulty on these islands.
During long periods of drought there had to be sufficient water to maintain its population.
Therefore most settlements arose round these sources for water.
