Grenada and the Grenadines - admin.
Graves on the Windward cemetery.
Here rest the remains of many Scottish boatbuilders and their families.
After the treaty of Versailles there was a need for ships in this region.
There were no local boat builders, so a group of Scots started the boat building here in Windward.
The wood for wooden sloops came from Carriacou itself and from the bigger island Grenada.
Untill today this craft has survived on the island, and now Carriacou is the only place in this region where the sloops are sill being built.
