Remains of the old sugar mill in Grand Bay.
Since sugar was at first the main crop on Carriacou, there was a need for mills to crush the cane.
On windy locations they built these round mills, all according to the same building concept.
The wooden top parts have long gone.
After the cultivation of sugar cane stopped it was replaced by growing limes.
Hence there are several old limekilns on the island, also fallen to ruins due to disuse.
Cotton was another one of the island's crops.
More mills on Carriacou.
