Remains of a cotton gin.

A cotton gin is a machine that quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds.
Hence allowing for much greater productivity than manual cotton separation.
The fibers are processed into various cotton goods such as linens.
Any undamaged cotton was used for clothes. Seeds may be used to grow more cotton or to produce cottonseed oil.

Cotton was one of the crops on Carriacou.

Other crops were sugar cane and limes.
For that reason we still find several old windmils from sugar cane production.
Other remains from colonial times are the limekilns which can be found on several locations.
