East of Mabouya Island is this calm dive spot called the Whirlpool.

Level: Easy and relaxed.
This dive site is ideal for beginning divers.
There is not a lot of current here at the whirlpool and many things to see.
Sandy patches and corals in many varieties.
Near Mabouya there are several other diving spots like the twin wrecks westsider and the boris.
Those diving spots are on the west side of Mabouya, where the currents are generally stronger then on this leeward side of the island.

Bubbles from volcanic activity coming to the surface.
Reef with lobsters, moray eels, stingrays, critters.

Here you find also a small tugboat in 24 meters (80 feet), which sunk 2001.
You still can go behind the wheel and steer your way underwater !
It is one of the safest wreckdives you can imagine.
And furthermore, the scenery at Mabouya underwater is astounding.

Good visibility.
This wreck is in excellent condition.
Use one of the local dive instructors to go diving at these wrecks.
Fortunately it did not suffer any damage from hurricane Ivan!
The 30 metre long wreck of the Westsider near Mabouya was officially sunk on September 4th 2004.
The dive is only suitable for experienced divers and there can sometimes be a current.
A 30 meter / 100 feet tug boat which sunk on the 04th of September 2004 – lying in 29 meters (96 ft) of water.
Surrounded by schools of juvenile fish, barracudas, french / gray / queen angelfishes.
Only for the experienced diver! Spectacular Wreck-Diving.
The Boris lies at 28 metres near Mabouya Island on Carriacou.
A safe and enjoyable wreck dive with already loads of marine flora and fauna.
See nurse sharks and lobster, queen angelfish, french angelfish.
At the wreck are barracudas, critters and more than average coral growth.
Definitely more than one expects in such a short time.
The Boris is one of many great dive sites around Carriacou and close to the wreck of the Westsider.
Length of the wrck: 30 m/ 100 ft
Depth of the site: 28 m/92 ft to keel, superstructure at 16m/52 ft.
Wreck in excellent condition due to its recent age.
The wreck is already dorned with corals and home to a great deal of snappers and French angelfish.
This long tugboat was sunk in September of 2007.
It is one of the most impressive divesites on Carriacou.
Wreckdiving can be very impressive.
This wreckdive is safe for exploring by all qualified divers.
Nevertheless, you should rely on recommendations by the local diving instructors.
If they feel that you are not capable there will not be a chance to get at the wreck anyway.
You can sometimes find a nurse shark or barracuda in the captain room.
Creole wrasses, jacks, and grey angels swirl all around.
Even more interesting is that the Boris Wreck is located only 100m away from another great wreck called the West Sider.
